HOLIDAY WORLD 2018 in Prague offered a rich programme

Spectacular exhibitions, a remarkable accompanying programme an exclusive offer for travelling around the world and in the Czech Republic, many attractions for both professionals and the general public. These are the features mentioned in the responses to the 27th year of the HOLIDAY WORLD fair held at the Exhibition Grounds in Prague- Holešovice that has just ended.

In an area of 18,880 m², visitors to the HOLIDAY WORLD and TOP GASTRO & HOTEL fairs could explore offers, news and other information presented by 642 exhibitors from 46 countries, including an unprecedented number that could not be seen anywhere else in the Czech Republic: 30 official exhibitions of tourist boards and embassies of individual countries. The presentation of the Czech and Slovak regions was more than impressive – 13 out of 14 members of the Association of Regions of the Czech Republic were present with their own large stands. This year’s fair was full of activities all four days. While at the beginning it was focused on professionals, which was also reflected by the accompanying conferences and seminars, the fair area in the days focusing on the general public was transformed into a large travel festival offering both cultural and entertainment shows, competitions, folklore and fairy tales, etc.

The interest in travelling is not fading away – the attendance of the fairs rose by 10 per cent, and their number of visitors reached 29,535 people. A total of 6,923 professionals came to enter into new contracts and obtain necessary information.

This year’s partner country of the fair is Slovakia. This partnership is not accidental – on the contrary, it was chosen in honour of the centenary of Czechoslovakia and twenty-five years of the independence of both republics. Slovakia showed a varied presentation and a rich accompanying programme, presenting the most significant cultural showpieces and attractive incentive programmes.

The “360° Travel Trends” conference had its premiere at this year’s HOLIDAY WORLD. Bringing the latest information on global trends in relation to the Czech reality, the conference introduced leading Czech innovators in tourism and showed tourism’s future direction.

Visitors to the HOLIDAY WORLD fair also had the opportunity to visit the 17th WorldFilm travel festival at the weekend, which offered a wide range of workshops, seminars, travel talks and autograph sessions.

During the start of the event, the “Holiday World AWARD” – Tourism Personality 2017, an award for the most significant and distinctive contribution to the development of this field in the Czech Republic, was announced. Minister Klára Dostálová and the representatives of the survey organizers – C.O.T. media and INCHEBA EXPO PRAHA – handed over the award to MUDr. Eduard Bláha, President of the Czech Spa Association and General Director of the Luhačovice Spa.

The results of the popular survey “Region of My Heart 2017” were also announced at the HOLIDAY WORLD fair. The survey is traditionally organized by the publishing house KAM po Česku and trade fair company INCHEBA EXPO PRAHA, under the patronage of the Association of Regions of the Czech Republic. A total of 10,212 people voted for their favourite tourist region in 10 categories. Of the ten main prizes, four were won by the South Bohemian Region, which also became the absolute winner of the survey.

On Friday, 16 February, the results of the competitions for exhibitors were announced.

Tourism Hub for Central Bohemian Region – for an attractive set of thematic catalogues full of fresh ideas with a choice of specific topics for different categories of visitors and possibilities for further expansion

Karlovy Vary Region – for the unique publication Živý kraj (Living Region), combining ideas with high text quality and top-level graphic design – the book meets all aspects of high-quality promotional and highly presentable material

2nd place: TUNISIA – Tunisian National Tourist Office for the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic
3rd place: MOROCCO – Moroccan National Tourist Office

1st place: ITALY – Agenzia Nationale del Turismo – ENIT
2nd place: Eastern Bohemia Destination Company
3rd place: Greek National Tourism Organisation

Special jury awards:

CHINA NATIONAL TOURIST OFFICE – for a high-quality country presentation with excellent use of samples of traditional Chinese culture

The special prize for partnership was awarded to

Slovakia – for a great cooperation in the mutual presentation of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Czechoslovakia and the 25th anniversary of the existence of two independent befriended republics, using specific features of Slovak culture and tradition
